Home Court Advantage

With conference play starting to take place in almost every conference, I thought it would be interesting to see just how often the home team actually wins. You're going to see a fair share of upsets during the conference schedule, but these are often misleading when the higher ranked team is playing on the road. It is very difficult playing at a team who knows you well, because they play you once or twice a year, and their fans hate you.

I'm going to track the 6 power conferences and see how much of a home court advantage there is. This occurs in every conference, but I just wanted to give a glimpse of how obvious it is using the most prominent teams.

Total Conference Games So Far: 31
Home team record: 21-10
Home team record by conference:
ACC: 4-1
Big 10: 4-0
Big 12: 0-0
Big East: 7-1
Pac-10: 6-8
SEC: 0-0

Clemson won @ Florida St. & Pittsburgh won @ Syracuse in the ACC and Big East.

The Pac-10 is really crazy right now with 7 different teams already having road wins. Oregon State and Arizona State have already lost 2 home games each, but these two teams also combined for 7 home non-conference losses. The one big surprise was USC winning @ Oregon.
