UCLA 73 UK 68 & The Rest of Tuesday's Action

What a night it was in Maui. In the first game Memphis jumped out on Georgia Tech, and looked like they were going to easily dominate the game. Georgia Tech decided to play defense and everything started coming together. Tech ended up with a 92-85 win, outscoring Memphis 62-39 in the 2nd half.

In the second game UCLA got off to a great start. Kentucky couldn't make a stop on defense, and they couldn't hit a thing on offense, but then came the Derrick Jasper show. Jasper took UK from a 26-9 deficit to a 8 point margin at halftime. He did everything; score, pass, rebound, and play great defense. The other freshmen fed off of his energy and carried the rest of the team.

Kentucky kept up the momentum in the 2nd half, and Morris, Crawford, and Bradley all started to contribute. But UCLA managed to get the ball inside with ease, and could not be stopped. Kentucky still had chances down the stretch, but had some late game turnovers that led to easy UCLA baskets.

I wanted to win just as much as any UK fan, but I do have to say I was impressed with the comeback, and I think it will build to the future. I know we all expect to win every game, as I did tonight, but UCLA is ranked 5th and made it to the championship game last year. UK proved they can play with the best, now they just have to keep improving, and play with more consistency.
