Kentucky 87 DePaul 81

Kentucky managed to survive a determined DePaul team in Maui to advance to the semi-finals. Once again UK got off to a great start, but the defense wasn't able to keep DePaul down.

Positives: The offense was by far the best it's been all season shooting 57.1% on field goals and 40% on 3's. UK also shot 17-21 on free throws, and that has been a problem in the last few seasons. Perry and Woo showed much more offense than the last 2 games. The seniors contributed 21 pts. which is much better than last games 5. Morris was great with 20 pts., 9 reb., and just 3 fouls. Bradley had 16 pts, and Crawford had 13 pts., 4 reb., and 5 ast.

Negatives: Defense! Too many starters (Bradley & Crawford) were beat off the dribble. There were stretches where DePaul seemed to score at will. A switch to a zone didn't help either, as it exposed our weak interior defense. I'm sure Tubby is disappointed in the defense, but happy with the win.

Tomorrow's game will more than likely be against UCLA who is playing Chaminade, by far the worst team in the tournament. The defense will have to step up, because I don't think that we will be able to score as easily against the Bruins. No matter the outcome of the next game, Kentucky will face another Top 25 team in either Memphis or Georgia Tech on Wednesday. Both of those teams are extremely athletic, but looked very confused on both sides of the ball today.
