Top 4
It's almost impossible to correctly rank teams in college basketball, but I'll give it a shot from what I've seen so far.
1. Florida (6-1) - They've only played one really good team (Kansas) and they lost, but I still say they're the best in the country. Of course some of their ranking comes from last year's success, but they do have the same players as last year. They face Ohio St. on December 23, and then they'll move into a pretty difficult conference.
2. UCLA (4-0) - Last year's runner-up is off to a great start. They really commit to defense, but are able to run up and down the court too. Their defense should help them to a Pac-10 title. They have some cupcakes coming up after winning the Maui Invitational, but do play Texas A&M on December 9.
3. Ohio St. (6-0) - Have dominated their early season opponents, but they haven't faced any top competition yet. That will change when they go to North Carolina on Wednesday. They also have a trip to Florida before they start their conference schedule. Everybody knows Ohio St. is loaded with talent, and adding Oden will help even more. I don't think Oden will dominate as soon as he starts playing, but he will contribute.
4. North Carolina (4-1) - Another team that's just loaded with young talent. The loss to Gonzaga does raise some questions. I think their biggest problem will be defense, but their size gives them so many possibilities on offense. They get to host Ohio St. and Kentucky this week before going into a pretty easy stretch on their schedule.
