Friday's Results

There wasn't much going on in college basketball on Friday, but there will be on Saturday. There are 13 games involving ranked teams including (17) Wichita St. at (15) Syracuse and (18) Georgetown at (11) Duke. Syracuse usually plays well at home, but Wichita St. will be trying to prove that they deserve their ranking. Duke will try to avenge last year's loss to Georgetown. Duke isn't as good as they've been the past few years, but I think they beat Georgetown in Cameron.

Of course, the big game for me tomorrow is Kentucky at (7) North Carolina. UNC is coming off an impressive win over Ohio St, and UK is trying to make up for it's poor showing in Maui. I've read lots of comments about how Kentucky has no chance to win, but that simply isn't true. They might not win, but if they play at the high level they're capable of they have a real shot. However, they also have a chance to get blown out if they come out flat, and let UNC do whatever they want to. This game is a great opportunity for UK to prove to its fanbase, and the rest of the country, that they can compete with anybody. A win would put them back in the Top 25 and it would help come tournament time.

I'll turn my attention to high school basketball on Saturday night with a visit to the HoopFest at Marshall Co. High School in Draffenville, Kentucky. There are 5 games in the final session featuring the always great Oak Hill, Kentucky commit A.J. Stewart's Jacksonville Arlington Country Day, and New American School (NY) that has 3 seven footers and UK recruit Teeng Akol. If you're anywhere near Western Kentucky you should really try to make it out to this event. Here's the official site with all of the details:
