Saturday's Scores

Midwest:

5 Butler 62 (29-6) - Perfect example of the balance in college basketball. They struggled late in the Horizon, but beat the 2nd place team in the ACC.
4 Maryland 59 (25-9) - Very atletic, but just not great basketball talent.

West:

11 VCU 79 (28-7) - Fought back from a 15 point halftime margin; another example of the parity.
3 Pittsburgh 84 OT (29-7) - Almost let this get away, and I think they really play to their competition.

7 Indiana 49 (21-11) - Just 13 1st half points, but still managed to tie it very late in the game.
2 UCLA 54 (28-5) - Their style makes it difficult to put anybody away, but they still get the win.

East:

9 Michigan St. 67 (23-12) - Just got worn out by the end, but the game was close until the last few minutes.
1 North Carolina 81 (30-6) - They have so much talented depth, and they take advantage of it by runningn

6 Vanderbilt 78 (22-11) - Great mix of being very athletic and great shooters; best Vandy team I remember.
3 Washington St. 74 2OT (26-8) - Highest seed to lose so far, but it's not a huge upset.

7 Boston College 55 (21-12) - Needed this to be played faster to get Georgetown out of their game.
2 Georgetown 62 (28-6) - Came from behind, but could have easily lost this.

Only 2 matchups are decided for the next round and they are:

3 Pittsburgh vs. 2 UCLA - Howland vs. his former team; another defensive battle.

6 Vanderbilt vs. 2 Georgetown - This is a rematch from earlier this year that Georgetown won, but both teams are much improved.
