Friday's Scores

Midwest Region:

16 Jackson St. 69 - Kept it close for a while; have some great individual talent.
1 Florida 112 - I just don't see anybody in this region that can compete with the Gators.

9 Purdue 72 - Proved that they deserve their seed.
8 Arizona 63 - So much talent that produced so little this year.

11 Winthrop 74 - Let a 20 point lead slip away, but managed to come back.
6 Notre Dame 64 - They can't win if they only make 4 3's.

14 Miami (OH) 56 - Imposed their tempo on the game, and it almost paid off.
3 Oregon 58 - Good to get a win in a style that they aren't best suited for.

7 UNLV 67 - I haven't given them enough credit all year.
10 Georgia Tech 63 - Just too many droughts, and too little experience.

15 Texas A&M C.C. 63 - Led for the majority of the game.
2 Wisconsin 76 - Able to overcome a very slow start.

West Region:

16 Niagara 67 - At least they got to play 2 games this week.
1 Kansas 107 - 12th straight win.

9 Villanova 58 - Would be a great team if they had a good center.
8 Kentucky 67 - Stayed focus under the media blitz regarding Tubby Smith.

12 Illinois 52 - Lack of offense cost them the game after leading until the very end.
5 Virginia Tech 54 - Managed to not fold even when it looked almost lost.

13 Holy Cross 51- Bad matchup to get a team that likes to play their style.
4 Southern Illinois 61 - Play some of the best halfcourt defense in the country.

East Region:

12 Arkansas 60 - Never seemed to be much of a threat.
5 USC 77 - Never let Arkansas make it an up-tempo game.

13 New Mexico St. 67 - Game was closer than the final score says.
4 Texas 79 - Impressed with their youth keeping its composure, and coming back to get the win.

South Region:

12 Long Beach St. 86 - Thought they could out run Tennessee.
5 Tennessee 121 - Maybe the dream matchup for Bruce Pearl.

13 Albany 57 - Got off to a bad start, and never came back.
4 Virginia 84 - Got back to playing like they did for most of the ACC season.

10 Creighton 71 - Were no match for Nevada during overtime.
7 Nevada 77 OT - Very even teams, but managed to get the win.

15 North Texas 58 - Were able to run with the Tigers for a while.
2 Memphis 73 - Their runs are what kills the other team.

Kentucky's Opponents:

Florida, Tennessee, and Memphis all advanced, while Arkansas and Miami (OH) lost. UK is 3-8 vs. the 31 teams left in the tournament, but just 1-1 vs. the teams in their region.
