Kansas 88 Kentucky 76

Kentucky played its final game of the season in a 12 point loss to Kansas. While the margin of defeat isn't that bad, UK really had very little chance to win. UK had no defense for Kansas on the inside or outside.

While a loss to Kansas isn't anything to be embarrassed about, it could have been avoided. There are 2 reasons why Kentucky was in this situation today.

1. First, they weren't able to earn a better seed that would have made it easier to make it further in the tournament. I think UK could have beaten probably all but 4 of the teams in this year's tournament. But, losses to Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi St. cost UK badly. Having such a difficult schedule made it possible for UK to still earn a good seed, but they lost too many games to mediocre teams.

2. Kentucky just doesn't have the talent that teams like Kansas do.

-Randolph Morris would start for any team in the country. Kansas couldn't stop him, all they could do was foul him. He still managed to get 22 points. After Morris, I don't think there is 1 Kentucky player that would start for any of the #1 seeds.

-Obviously Crawford was ranked high in high school, but he hasn't developed like most thought he would.

-Bradley is an ok player, but not one to build your team around.

-Perry played a good game today, and would be great if he was surrounded by talent like Kansas, Florida, or UNC has.

-Meeks has a lot of potential, and is playing well.

-Jasper is a major question heading into next year. He has had a terrible year since January, and has to improve on offense and defense if he wants to stay the point guard.

-Teams like Kansas, UNC, and Ohio St. are getting freshmen that are major difference makers in their first year. Kentucky isn't getting that, and it is hurting them badly.

Now everybody is going to be wondering what changes will be made next year. There are rumors of Tubby leaving, assistants leaving, Morris leaving, Crawford leaving, and many other things. First off, no matter who is coaching, Morris needs to stay for UK to have success next year. Of course UK still needs to get more high level recruits for next year too.
