Vanderbilt 67 Kentucky 65

Once again Kentucky choked down the stretch to lose yet another game. For the first time in 4 games, UK actually got off to a good start. They played hard for 30 minutes, but when Vandy committed to playing a zone, UK had no chance. Kentucky looked like they were just doing a walk-through on offense against Vandy's zone. Woo and Perry both had good games, but bad play from Bradley, Crawford, and Morris cost the Cats. The 3 juniors combined for 21 points and 10 turnovers.

Point guard play killed Kentucky today. Jasper is pretty much dead weight on the court now. He had 3 turnovers in 10 minutes and didn't attempt a shot. He also only plays defense with his arms, and never moves his feet. This makes it simple for his man to drive right past him. Bradley is also failing at the point. He doesn't even seem to attempt to get the rest of the team involved on offense, and makes turnovers at the worst times.

Some might think that there were positives to take away from today's game. After all, UK did manage to go into a hostile environment and almost pull off an upset. But, this game sums up the play of the whole year, especially in late game situations. It doesn't matter how well you shoot when you turn the ball over so much. Kentucky was even with Vandy in rebounds at 28, but Vandy had 15 more shot attempts. The defense was good, and the shooting was good, but the turnovers killed UK. The guards have to just not give the ball away. They don't have to take over and be heroes, they just have to not lose the game.
