Alabama 72 Kentucky 61

Another game, another early deficit for Kentucky. This time Kentucky was down double digits with 13:17 left in the 1st half. The lead was stretched to 14 when UK was down 20-6 with 8:02 remaining in the 1st. Tubby has got to prepare his team better to put them in a position to win the game. They're fighting an up hill battle, and the pattern is becoming obvious. Even though UK came back to cut it to 2, it never seemed like they could win. They once again let the guards drive by them at will, and gave up way to many wide open 3's. They've fallen to 3rd in the SEC East, and are in big trouble.

Tubby changed the starting five, allowing Thomas to start. He played 20 minutes and totaled 0 pts, 1 reb, 2 turnovers, and 4 fouls. The other senior forward, Bobby Perry, played 10 minutes and had 2 pts and 2 reb. Perry Stevenson played 9 minutes and had 2 pts, 3 reb, and a dunk that Thomas or Bobby Perry would have probably missed. It's obvious to everybody in Kentucky that Stevenson should be playing more, but Tubby doesn't see it. The whole team played better with Stevenson, and he gave them some needed energy. But he'll probably be the 3rd option again in the next game.

Stevenson first came in with 3:41 left in the 1st half. He was replaced just 1:39 later. How can he possibly contribute when he's not given a chance to play? Tubby is determined that Sheray and Bobby are better, but it isn't true. Stevenson next entered the game at the 12:04 mark when UK trailed by 11. He left with 8:09 remaining, and the Cats had cut the lead to 2. Why Tubby doesn't see Stevenson's importance is beyond me. When your team has lost 3 in a row, it's time to make some adjustments. It's obvious that Thomas and Perry haven't been able to make a difference throughout their careers. Tubby has to just put his pride behind him and admit that Stevenson is the answer. But, I think Tubby will instead go with his usually substitution patterns, and UK will continue to struggle.
