Florida 64, Kentucky 61

Kentucky barely came up short tonight against number 1, Florida. The score was where the Cats wanted it, Morris was dominant offensively on the inside and UK out rebounded Florida, but they still were unable to get a win. Yesterday I talked about how UK couldn't afford to get behind by a large margin, but that is exactly what they did. They were down by 16 in the first half, and even though they made great adjustments and probably out played Florida for the rest of the game, they had still dug themselves into too deep of a hole. It might have been nerves or Florida's quickness, but I still don't see how UK got off to such a bad start. It was obvious that this was a huge game, but UK still wasn't prepared for the start.

Morris had 18 pts, 9 reb, and 2 blks, and kept Kentucky in the game. Bradley shot just 3-10 on 3's and 3-8 FT, but he still managed to get 20 pts. Thomas also had a pretty good game with 4 pts, 5 reb, 2 ast, and some good defense. Bobby Perry and Joe Crawford didn't show up at all. They were a combined 4-19 FG, 0-10 3 FG, and attempted zero free throws. Crawford did manage to get 8 rebounds, but that was the only postive out of those 2. Kentucky can be really good, but they can't afford to get so little out of 2 starters.

Hopefully when Kentucky goes to Florida at the end of the season, they will see that they have to make it a halfcourt game from the beginning to get a win. Florida wasn't able to guard Kentucky inside without fouling, and the Cats have to exploit that weakness next time around.

Now UK has to focus on Tuesday's game at Tennessee, who just demolished Vanderbilt 84-57. Losing to the number 1 team isn't terrible, but they have to finish out the rest of the SEC schedule strong.
